Through a Glass Darkly

This fall, I had the joy of copy editing Through a Glass Darkly: The Social History of Stained Glass in Baltimore by anthropologist and author Linda Rabben. In the book, Linda takes readers along as she walks Baltimore’s neighborhoods in search of stained glass and answers to questions about the people who commissioned, created, and inherited it. I loved learning more about the history of the Northeast Baltimore neighborhood where I live, and about the artists who are preserving and reinventing stained glass today.

To see examples of the historic and contemporary stained glass in the book, visit the exhibition that Linda curated at the Peale, Baltimore’s Community Museum, through February 4. Check out the author’s recent interview on WYPR, and visit her website to find out which local bookstores are carrying Through a Glass Darkly—already in its second edition.
